The Founder

David Wells: Also known as “Boomer” by his fans, friends and teammates, David was a major league baseball pitcher who played 21 seasons with nine different teams, most notably the New York Yankees. On May 17, 1998, David pitched the 15th Perfect Game in baseball history while wearing the number 33 on his jersey. David was considered one of the league’s top left-handed pitchers during his career who made three All-Star appearances and won two World Series titles. With more than 30 years of being involved in philanthropy, David and his wife Nina are still giving back to their community as founders of the Perfect 33 Foundation.

Perfect 33 Foundation:  David wanted to raise money to help develop student athletes and the local athletic programs at his alma mater high school, Point Loma High School and the community where he grew up in San Diego. He did this by rallying his friends, family and fellow school mates to donate their time and money. He also built partnerships within the community. These efforts helped to provide new opportunities for the athletes as well as provide resources for them to realize their true potential.

San Diego, which is a military based community, is where David has many friends who have served or are still serving in the military. Through these friends, David got first hand knowledge about the need for resources to help those who have been injured either physically or mentally while serving our country. David became passionate about helping these veterans to get the medical resources needed and to assist with the many challenges their families faced.

As a result, David and Nina formed the Perfect 33 Foundation in 2015. Since then, the foundation has raised over 3 million dollars with beneficiaries such as the Tunnel To Towers Foundation, Best Defense Foundation, Git R’ Done Foundation, Kirk Gibson Foundation for Parkinsons, C4 Foundation, Puerto Rico Relief Foundation and many more.
